Volunteer Opportunities
The mission of the MIT sailing program is to provide all members of the MIT community--of whatever age, status, prior experience, and ability--with opportunities to sail and to improve their nautical skills. The MIT Sailing Pavilion is a rare environment where enthusiasts of all ages learn and compete together on an equal and friendly footing. To ensure its continued successful operation the Pavilion has to rely heavily on the work of volunteers. Therefore, no matter what level of involvement your schedule will allow, we welcome you.
Teaching Opportunities
Many of you know or even have gone through one of our Learn-to-Sail classes. If you enjoy teaching and feel that you would like to communicate your experience and help out with the sailing classes, please contact Ted or Eric at the sailing pavilion.
Intercollegiate Racing
During the Spring and Fall seasons MIT is host to an intercollegiate regatta just about every weekend. Helping to host a regatta may mean doing race committee; driving the motor boat to set and change courses; writing down finishes; running the starting sequence, or scoring; or a variety of other jobs. If you are not familiar with how to host a regatta, we'll match you up with an experienced person with whom you'll work and from whom you'll learn.
If you don't see something that you are interested in, please contact the MITNA executive committee to discuss other ideas. Thank you!
