Toni Deutsch '58 was the first woman to receive a varsity letter in athletics at MIT. This regatta honors an outstanding athlete who has devoted herself to providing opportunities for current MIT students. During her four years on the sailing team under the tutelage of Jack Wood, MIT won Nationals twice and finished second once.

With the generous use of Harvard's FJs as well as MIT's fleet, twelve races were completed in a 5-8 knot breeze which started in the NE and clocked into the SSE by the end of the day. The Brown Bears are putting on a show with a huge lead after 12 races in both divisions.

Sunday brought an oscillating ENE to ESE breeze at 8-12 knots. Competitors had decided on Sat noon to extend the regatta from 14 races to 16 races total. Everyone enjoyed the 'triple gate special' course which had a mid course gate both upwind and downwind as well as windward and leeward gates. Boat handling and lane management improved dramatically during Sunday's sets of races. Congrats to the Brown University ladies who continued to put on a clinic for everyone. Yale just edged out Coast Guard in the last A Division race of the regatta to secure 2nd overall.
