Sailing, Intermediate 420 Dinghy PE.0909
In this 120 minute class, students will learn to sail 420 dinghies with one partner and the intricacies of sailing and rigging a sloop rigged, planing dinghy. Class progression will start with basic boathandling and wrap up with introductory dinghy racing concepts, including a final "race day".
Prerequisite: TBD- Prior sailing experience that includes passing the "Learn To Sail" PE&W Sailing, or sailing outside of MIT. Participants should not be rank beginners and should know how to sail close hauled, tack and gybe a dinghy. Prior 420 dinghy sailing experience is not required. Students must have completed the swim and boat test to be eligible to participate.
Equipment: Synthetic, warm clothing recommended (hats, windbreakers). Spray or water repellent pants are suggested.
