Description

Note: registration no longer available for this event, we've left the dock. Sorry...

We will be practicing COB (crew overboard) maneuvers, and possibly other skills such as heaving to, anchoring, mooring pickup, or jib swaps. This is a sail for (somewhat) experienced* sailors with interest in becoming skippers on Mashnee or similar boats. We will meet on Monday, 21 May, at 11:30 at the Boston Waterboat Marina, and return by 8:30pm. I will confirm up to 2 sailors.

Please bring clean shoes with non-marking^ soles. Ideally, carry the shoes you plan to wear in a bag – that way the sand you walk through in Boston won't scratch beautiful Mashnee. Sailing barefoot is also an option, but beware of tripping/stubbing hazards.

Temperatures on the water will be significantly cooler than on land, please dress accordingly. Bring water and a lunch/snack/dinner.

*Please don't assume you're not experienced enough if you haven't sailed solo around the world! If you are confident performing maneuvers like tacks and gybes, have some idea of how to how to raise/lower furls/unfurl sails, and are interested in learning more advanced maneuvers, we will be happy to have you.

^Light-colored soles are generally non-marking. Some black soles might be non-marking: rub the heel firmly on a white piece of paper, and if it leaves no scuff mark your soles are probably non-marking.
