Description
I will be holding another destination / overnight sail on September 6-7. Since we cannot not control the wind or weather, please be prepared for a potential Sunday return. The weather will dictate our destination, but a few possible options could be: Pepperell Cove in Kittery, ME Thatcher Island Cocktail Cove, Great Misery Island Gloucester Provincetown For this trip, whether it be an overnighter or full day trip, I will need 2 people to volunteer to handle the provisioning. This task is one significant aspect of a successful trip. Please expect all meals to be simple and not require cooking. We will most likely have a vegetarian/ gluten free menu. The provisioning team should plan on 1- 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 backup dinner, and snacks. Our goal is to have dinner ashore at our destination. However, Thatcher Island and Cocktail Cove do not offer any on shore establishments. I will most likely select 5 additional crew for this trip. Sailors of all abilities and with prior Mashnee sails under their belts are welcome to sign up. Mashnee has berths available for 4 crew, which means 2 crew will need to sleep in the cockpit. If we opt to sail overnight vs sleeping on a mooring, we will break into watches. Dock call Friday will depend on our anticipated destination and weather. For a trip to Pepperell Cove or Provincetown, crew could expect a dock call time as early as 5am. For a closer destination, a dock call time of around 10am could be expected. For the sake of planning and registering, please plan for an early dock call and a possible return Sunday. Crew should come prepared to spend 2 days aboard Mashnee. Crew should pack in a carryon sized duffle bag the following: Boat Shoes Water Bottle SPF Appropriate Layers of Clothing Sea Sickness Medication Compressible sleeping bag or Rumpl Blanket Sailing Gloves Headlamp w/ Red Light Toiletries Bowl, mug, and fork We will have basic foul weather gear aboard should we face adverse weather. If you have your own rain / foul weather gear it is strongly recommended you bring it along. We will also provide crew with inflatable PFDs. The associated costs of our mooring and provisioned food for this trip will be split evenly among crew. Depending on our final destination, the crew should be prepared to pay for a launch service to get to shore. The fee is around $20 round trip.
