Description
Practice on Mashnee to become familiar with her boat systems and safe operation under sail and power.
The systems review will be beneficial to anyone who wants to know Mashnee well and to learn about coastal cruising boats in general. The motoring practice will be especially useful to sailors who have prior experience on crusing yachts, but not yet on a classic sailboat like Mashnee, which differs from a modern yacht in some fundamental ways. The sailing practice should be enjoyable to everyone, whether you actively participate in the vessel operation or simply enjoy the view. If you have prior experience sailing a fractional rig with running backstays, please mention it when you register. Provisional rating preferred, Helmsman will be great, but all are welcome.
Dedicated boat shoes with non-marking soles only. No barefoot, no open toe footware. Dress warmly, preferably in layers, it will be cooler on the water. If you have questions about appropriate clothing or shoes, email me. Bring enough water for yourself to drink and a snack/dinner, if you would like one. (Extra points for bringing snacks to share with others :=)
