Learn to Sail Class - Firefly for Beginners

Description

This three-day beginner course will be conducted in our Fireflies (12') and is open to members of the MIT community who are actively cleared for campus access via MIT Covid Pass, which includes all registered students who are new to sailing.

Participants must be available for all three consecutive classes in the same week as each class will build on the previous day's skills.

Registration

Registration for this set of classes (note the above dates) will run

from Midnight (12:00:01 am) to 10 am on Monday, July 12th. 

Confirmations for class spots will be based on your position in the Priority QueuePlease register for the queue before signing up for a class.

Registering for this event does not confirm your entry into the class. You will receive an email stating whether you have been confirmed or not. 

Beginners must be available to take Classes 1, 2, and 3 on consecutive afternoons.

 

For the first day of class:

  • Come dressed ready to sail on day 1! Bring extra layers, it's cooler on the water than on campus.
  • You must bring a valid MIT ID and complete your daily health attestation before arriving.
  • You must be able to swim — no exceptions. You should be able to meet the standard MITNA swimming requirement, but do not need to present proof.
