Our cruise from Salem to the MIT Pavilion is going forard this Monday the 22nd of April.
Please catch the #105 train to Salem departing at 0835 EDT from the North Station. Your tickets will be reimbursed at the MIT Pavillion.
I am going to sleep on the boat Sunday night and so will meet you directly at the Salem train station when your train arrives.
Mashnee is docked at Dion's which is located here: http://www.fjdion.com/location
We may have to wait until 1100 to have enough water to get through the channel leading out of the harbor but we will try to leave earlier if possible.
Mashnee's 62' long mast will be in a cradle lashed to the centerline of the deck. Luckily the forecast is calling for NE winds (favorable) 5 to 10 knots, and only 4 foot seas which will be running with us.
The plan is to motor to the Charles River Locks and rail bridges and to arrive there before 1615 when the bridges will remain closed until 1815 for land-based rush hour traffic. With some luck we may be able to fit under the closed bridges if need be.
At the locks we will have to be adept at using roving fenders. A few skiffs from the pavilion will come to greet us so Mashnee should be well buffered.
Please dress for rain and chilly weather and bring a lunch and water. We will not have GPS so we will use this cruise as an opportunity to practice our coastal navigation skills.
I look forward to cruising with you all.
Best,
Max
