Sailors,

Registration for the Camden, Maine to Boston delivery is now open. Final crew selection will be made no later than July 7th. Please take a moment to review the information below before signing up.

Delivery Overview

Crew will meet at the Wayfarer Marina in Camden, Maine by 5 pm on August 5th.. We will board Mashnee and prepare for a morning departure. Each day’s ‘itinerary’ will be based on the weather in order to put in the most miles with what we are given. We will moor or dock each evening as we make our way down the coast. We will be back in Boston no later than August 11th, but will strive to make the delivery in as few days as possible.

Crew Requirements / Selection

All crew will be expected to have an active sailing card at the time of sign up and at the time of the delivery. Sailing cards expire each year in July. All crew must be able to commit to the entire delivery. Crew should be prepared for multiple full days on the water in a variety of conditions. Mashnee has some foul weather gear, but it is best to come prepared with your own if possible.

I will be selecting 4 crew for this delivery and will have a few alternates, should the need arise. The final crew selection and alternates will be made no later than July 7th. Undergraduates and sailing team members are encouraged to sign up. Please touch base with me if you are an undergraduate student or member of the sailing team so I am aware.

Seasickness

Each crew member is expected to know their susceptibility to seasickness and to have a plan on how to combat it if necessary. If you are highly prone to seasickness this trip may not be for you.

Transportation to Maine

Crew will be expected to find their own transportation to Maine. Most crew have taken the bus from Boston’s South Station in the past. I will be able to provide more details about the bus services upon the final crew selection. The northbound schedule can be seen here.

Provisioning

Provisioning will be taken care of by myself and any crew in Maine early on the 5th. We will discuss provisioning as a crew prior to the delivery to outline a rough plan.

Berths

Mashnee has 4 single berths. Crew should come prepared to spend at least one evening outside in the cockpit to make things as fair as possible. Options will be discussed as a group as the delivery draws closer.

Costs

The costs of the delivery will be shared among the crew. Shared costs will include:

  • Mooring / dockage fees
  • Provisioning

  • Fuel
