Description

Introduction to the Sailing Pavilion and the Firefly Dinghy for Experienced Sailors new to MIT Sailing. You must be on CovidPass and have access to DAPER facilities to sail. This includes members on MIT Covid Pass who have sailed the Tech Dinghy in the past and want to learn how to rig a mainsail-only Firefly.

Class date: Tuesday, August 11th

Class time: 1:30pm - 3:00pm

 

Class will be about 1.5 hours long or less and covers:

  • General information about MIT's Sailing Program.

  • Tour of the facility - what we have and where it all is - how you can use it.

  • Quick demo of rigging a Firefly dinghy (mainsail only).

 

Class does not include sailing time, however you want to take out a Firefly dinghy after class, we will be around to help.

 

Requirements:

  • You want to sail at MIT.
     
  • You know how to sail singlehandedly and rig a small boat of some kind.

  • You are a member of the MIT community cleared for access via MIT Covid Pass and have access to DAPER facilities.
