Figure 1: Tartan's Section V of the Owner's Instruction book.

Editorial Notes:

  • This schematic can be helpful in general understanding of Nevermore's 12-volt and 110-volt electrical systems.
However, there are many specifics that vary from what we have found on Nevermore.
Note that the original schematic is dated Oct 1976, while Nevermore was built in 1980.
    • We plan (Aug08+) to insert this marked-up version into Section V of the Owner's Instruction book WITHOUT removing the original page.
    • Specifically, we don't plan to redraw this schematic, but rather to embody this schematic's information in our "study" documents.

Differences between "1976" design and "1980" build (as deduced from other sources):

  • only 1 row of 6 switches (#1-6) before (we assume 2nd row ( + #7-12) is 1980 orig equip)
  • the Bilge/Sump switch wiring schemes seems different, but we're not sure what it WAS in 1980
  • STEAMING (MASTHEAD) and ANCHOR lights seem to be turned on with "engine panel CBs" in 1976

Differences between "1980" build and 2007 receipt of Nevermore (as deduced from studying her circuits):

  • the vertical row of switches (#31-37) look like they were added after 1980?
  • the "sump/bilge" switching appears to have been changed; at least, we think the shower sump isn't used any more, or its sump isn't pumped (but we haven't studied this (Aug08))
  • third battery not shown in 1976, nor in e.g. Service Bulletins that came with the Engine Manual associated (vaguely) with 1980 build (e.g. 2-way charge splitter (e.g. Svc.Bull. #87)

Differences between 2007 Nevermore configuration and now:

  • the sump/bilge pumps switch is rewired to OFF/MANUAL/AUTO bilge pump operation (Fall07)

Misc.

  • TODO: ask Tartan for a circa-1980 schematic? But hummm: why would they even HAVE such a schematic, since they didn't put it in our Owner's book originally?
