This is the checklist of things to do before leaving the boat.

  • Remove MITNA burgee, stow in port cabinet of main cabin.
  • Remove radar reflector, stow at bow end of starboard berth.
  • Remove GPS, stow in top drawer of nav station.
  • Stow winch handles in middle drawer of nav station.
  • Stow gaffing hooks in starboard lazarette.
  • Cover binnacle compass (cover stored in top drawer of nav station).
  • Ensure that mainsail is tied and covered.
  • Ensure that headsail is furled and secured, and jib sheets are tight.
  • Ensure that main and spinnaker halyards are tightly secured and not flogging the mast.
  • Ensure that centerboard is in 'up' position.
  • Ensure that the boom and sailcover will not touch the dodger.
  • Close hatches (there are 2) and window ports (there are 9).
  • Close head valves (there are 2).
  • Tidy up
    • wipe kitchen surfaces
    • sweep/wipe cabin floor
    • sweep/wipe cockpit surfaces
    • wash/scrub topsides with freshwater
  • Complete log entry, including:
    • date and time

    • enumeration of things that were repaired, need to be repaired, will soon need to be repaired
