This is the checklist of thing to do before getting underway.

  • Unlock cabin, starboard lazarette, and stern lazarette. Stow locks in top drawer of nav station.
  • Remove companionway boards. Stow in cabin.
  • Make log entry. Include at least the following:
    • date and time
    • name of each person on board
      • if more than 6 passengers, indicate
        • which are passengers (up to 6), and
        • which are competent crew per USCG-UPV requirements (any number)
    • engine hours at start
  • Remove guppy. Stow in bucket in stern lazarette.
  • Remove binacle compass cover. Stow where winch handles are stowed.
  • Set lower battery switch to "1"
  • Set main breaker to 'on'
  • Open yellow seacock under sink in head.[discuss ]
  • Check engine oil and coolant levels.
  • Check battery fluid levels.[discuss ]
  • Check holding tank level.
  • Check recent log entries.
