This is the checklist of thing to do before getting underway.

  • unlock cabin, starboard lazarette, and stern lazarette. stow locks in top drawer of nav station.
  • remove companionway boards. stow in cabin.
  • make log entry. include at least the following:
    • date and time
    • name of each person on board
    • engine hours at start
    • fuel gauge reading (the one under quarter berth above nav station seat)
    • holding tank level
  • check log entries of recent trips for equipment problems, supplies needed, etc
  • remove guppy. stow in bucket in aft lazarette.
  • check bilge for water; set nav-station panel "BILGE" DOWN to pump water out
  • set lower battery switch to "1" (for the starting battery, battery #3)
  • set nav-station panel 'MAIN' breaker to 'on'
  • open head valves (there are 2)
  • fly ensign from stern
