This page is intended as a way for sailors to quickly determine which systems on the boat are not operating normally. Please enter information about any systems that are not operating correctly on the boat, or which are operating in a non-standard way that skippers and crew should know about.

New Operating Problems

Ongoing Problems

NOTE: Let's enter these items in general order of the Systems Description wiki pages.

SAILS, DECK SAILING GEAR

  • Spinnaker pole is shorter than storage fixtures on deck, because of repair to onboard end of pole which shortened it, so that there's possibility that it can get loose and cause havoc [Sep 2011].
    • Workaround is to watch bindings that (a) keep aft end from getting loose, and (b) check that there are bindings to keep pole from shifting sternward, which will allow forward end of pole to get out of its mount.

OTHER DECK GEAR

  • Forward cabin hatch doesn't provide locking, since dogs can be operated from topside [Observed Aug-Sep 2011]

MACHINERY (ENGINE, STEERING, BILGE PUMPS)

Engine Instruments and Controls

  • Engine control panel ammeter reads c. 60 amps charging even with engine stopped; it isn't wired in to circuit (2 wires are on 1 connector on the ammeter, but zero wires on the other connector on the ammeter) [Sep 2011]
