Here the Cape is Cape Sable, at the southern end of Nova Scotia. And it did get cold. Two days before we had been in shorts and T-shirts, and around this time we would be getting out the ski gloves we had brought. The deep currents well up to the surface at the southern end of Nova Scotia, making it cold, foggy, and at times very hard to steer. The upwellings can be seen from the surface as blooms of water, and if the boat was caught in one your course could swing 90 degrees in a matter of seconds - faster than the rudder could correct. Ola Kalinowska, Herbert Mehnert Stadeler, and Scott Dynes shiver as Anja Hohmann tries to keep the boat on course.
