A cold, breezy day and Eric Brown is up the mast putting on the VHF antenna, the tricolor, and the wind instruments. Since we take the mast out of the boat every off-season we have to send someone up the mast in the fall to take everything off the top of the mast, and then again in the spring to put everything back on the mast. While it seems like a simple process, it usually takes the better part of an hour. You are always working above your head, cannot see because your head is below the height you'd like it to be, and you are constantly worried about dropping things into the water 60 feet below.
