This picture was taken three days before the boat went in the water, and that is snow you see. To have the boat available to the MIT sailing community for the greatest period we would try to put the boat in as early as possible. In this case the boat went in the water in early April. In other cases, due to maintenance, the boat went in the water in mid-July. We also try to sail the boat as deep into Fall as possible, and usually take the boat out at the end of October - when it is cold, dark, and stormy enough that very few people sign up for sails.
