This is the checklist of things to do before leaving the boat.
- Remove ensign from stern, stow in port shelf of V berth.
- Remove MITNA burgee, stow in port cabinet of main cabin.
- Remove radar reflector, stow at bow end of starboard berth.
- Remove GPS, stow in top drawer of nav station.
- Stow winch handles in middle drawer of nav station.
- Stow gaffing hooks in starboard lazarette.
- Cover binnacle compass (cover stored in top drawer of nav station).
- Assure that mainsail is tied and covered.
- Assure that headsail is furled and secured, and jib sheets are tight.
- Assure that main and spinnaker halyards are tightly secured to stanchion bases.
- Assure that centerboard is in 'up' position.
- Close hatches (there are 2) and window ports (there are 9).
- Close head valves (there are 2).
- Stow cushions on edge in cabin.
- Tidy up
- Wipe kitchen surfaces
- sweep/wipe cabin floor
- sweep/wipe cockpit surfaces
- wash/scrub topsides with freshwater
- Complete log entry, including:
- date and time
- engine hours and fuel level
- name of person making the entry
- enumeration of things that were repaired, need to be repaired, will soon need to be repaired
- description of trip, including destination, route, weather.
- Ensure that stove valve is off and tank is depressurized.
- Ensure that bilge pump switch is in 'automatic' position (down).
- Set all breakers on nav station to 'off'.
- Set both battery switches to 'off' (pointer to 6 o'clock position).
- Install companionway boards.
- Lock cabin, starboard lazarette, stern lazarette (locks stored in top drawer of nav station).
- Tighten steering brake with rudder in centered position.
