\item Flares, anchor in forward compartment.
\item Activate light switch next to tiller.
\item Distress signal: Arms out, wave up \& down slowly.

\section{Too much wind}
\item Head to wind, let sail out.
\item Sail back to dock \& reef.
\item If really crazy, lower red peak halyard. 

\section{Excess water in boat}
\item Clear bailing holes near centerboard.
\item Get pump from forward compartment.

\section{Forestay broken}
\item Head downwind.
\item Lower sail.

\section{Man overboard (MOB)}
\item Shout ``Man overboard!!''
\item Stay in boat, don't jump into water unless absolutely necessary.
\item Skipper:
  \item Order one crew: ``watch MOB and point constantly.''
  \item Sail beam reach for 5-6 boat lengths.
  \item Tack \& sail broad reach to MOB. Setup for pickup on leeward side.
  \item Order: ``prepare to pickup.''
  \item Near MOB, \\luff sail to stop boat.
\item Pickup MOB on leeward side. 

\section{Lost mainsheet}
Don't gybe!

\item Lower centerboard.
\item Turn boat directly into wind to center boom.
\item Route mainsheet through blocks.
\item Re-tie stopper knots. 

\section{Stuck in irons near wall}
\item Crew: Put out fender.
\item Crew: Use oar to fend wall \& other boats
\item Pull in sail \& reorient boat with oar to power up. 

\section{Preparing Lynx}
\item \textbf{Check stopper knot on mainsheet!}
\item Stow all loose items under bench. Always keep lanes clear.
\item Lower centerboard.
\item Remove sail cover, roll up, stow under bench.
\item Remove tiller-tamers \& boom crutch, stow under bench.
\item Raise the sail: \\(green = throat, red = peak).

  \item Pull both halyards until throat is fully raised.
  \item Pull peak halyard until sail is smooth.
  \item Secure halyards in cam cleats. Don't cleat to horns.
  \item Coil lines \& hook over horns. 


\section{Launching from mooring}
\textbf{Hold mooring line until skipper says ``release mooring.''}

\item Lower centerboard.
\item Put mooring line on bow cleat closest to wall.
\item Crew 1: \textbf{Hold mooring line securely} \& remove from cleat.
\item Crew 2: Sheet in to power up.
\item Skipper: Set tiller to sail away from wall.
\item Crew 1: Walk mooring line back to stern of boat.
\item Skipper decides: Ready?\\

  \item Skipper: ``Release mooring.''
  \item Crew 1: Release mooring line. 
  \item Skipper: ``Abort launch!''
  \item Crew 2: Sheet out to de-power.
  \item Crew 1: 
    \item Walk mooring line forward to bow.
    \item Secure to bow cleat nearest wall.
    \item Put line through chock.

\section{Launching from dock}
\item Lower centerboard.
\item Sheet in to power-up.
\item Push tiller to dock.
\item Optional: Push boat to start sailing.
\item Wedge fender under bench. 

\item To keep speed, push the tiller gently, no more than 3/4 across.
\item Make sure traveler slides to new position. 

\textbf{Never slam gybe the Lynx! \\Always sheet in first!}

\item Setup a broad reach.
\item Skipper: ``Prepare to gybe''
\item Skipper: Slowly begin to turn.
\item Crew: Pull mainsheet to bring boom towards centerline.
\item Crew: After sail changes side, quickly let out mainsheet.
\item Check traveler in new position.

\section{Returning to dock}

\item Put fender out.
\item Lower centerboard.
\item Setup to land towards eastern (downtown) end of dock.
\item Let sail out to slow boat.
\item Turn sharply into wind.
\item Crew: Step out with bow line, tie boat to dock. 

\section{Returning to mooring}

\item Lower centerboard.
\item Put fender out.
\item Crew: Use oar to fend wall \& boats.
\item Bow crew: Ready at bow to\\ pickup mooring line.
\item Skipper: 1-2 boat lengths before mooring, turn sharply into wind, luff sails.
\item Bow crew:
  \item Pickup mooring.
  \item Secure to horn.
  \item Put line through chock.
  \item Tell skipper that boat is secure (or that we missed!)
\item Crew: Lower both halyards.
