MIT Sailing Pavilion
Congratulations to Jack Field '08, winner of the 14th annaul Brass Rat Regatta,
as well as all the winners of the Sir Ian McFarlane Trophy.
The fleet starts a race on Saturday afternoon
Jennifer McFarlane (left) presenting the trophies to the MIT sailing champions of 2006. The event is named in honor of Jennifer's father, Sir Ian McFarlane, who generously provided the trophies for the winners as well as the perpetual cup which will be permanently displayed at the sailing pavilion with the names of the winners engraved on a plaque below.
This year's champions are Jack Field '08 (right), Undergraduate Student Champion; Emma Bassein '06, Women's Champion (center); Dan Bercovici '04, Alumni Champion (center-right); and Claudio Cairoli G (center-left), Graduate Student Champion.
Jack also won the overall Brass Rat championship besting the field of 42 competitors. It is the first time that an undergraduate student has ever won the championship beating out many 'has beens' including two former collegiate sailors of the year. Jack is also the captain of the MIT Beaver sailing team, currently the 8th ranked team in North America.
