NOTICE OF RACE
1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing and Appendix D- Team Racing Rules.
1.2
The prescriptions of the US national authority will apply.
1.3 The class rules of the intercollegiate dinghy class as described in The Procedural Rules for Intercollegiate Sailing Competition Fall 2005- Spring 2008 will apply.
2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 The regatta is open to the first eighteen teams who submit a completed Entry Form and mail their full entry fee to Charles River Open Team Race, c/o Kyle Welch, 73 Gorham Street, Chelmsford, MA 01824. Checks should be made payable to MIT Sailing Pavilion. A team is not considered registered until all three boats have submitted their entry fee. Accepted entries will be updated as they are received and may be viewed at: Teams attending. Do not attempt to deliver entries to the MIT Sailing Pavilion.
2.2
Six additional late team entries may be accepted by
qualifications on June 16, 2006 if their application and entry fee
has also been received.
3 FEES
3.1 Entry fee for a boat with only
current college undergraduate or high school students is $ 60/ boat.
3.2 Entry fee for any boat with a
competitor who has voluntarily judged at MIT sailing events during
the 2005-2006 intercollegiate season is $1 /boat.
3.3 Entry fee for all others is $80/ boat.
3.4
A damage deposit check of $100/ boat in the form of a check made
payable to MIT Sailing or cash and enclosed in a separate,
self addressed, stamped, unsealed envelope will be
required at registration prior to racing. There will be no exceptions
to this. Damage deposits shall be returned once all boats have been
inspected for damage. This damage deposit amount does not limit the
liability of a competitor for damages to the equipment.
3.5
Fifty additional tickets to the band party on Saturday evening will
be available on a limited basis, first come, first served until sold
out for $10 each. Each competitor will receive a ticket with their
entry fee.
3.6 Twenty additional tickets for dinner and the dance party on Saturday evening will be available on a limited basis, first come, first served until sold out for $25 each. Each competitor will receive a ticket with their entry fee.
4 SCHEDULE
Saturday, June 24, 2006
0800- 0830 Check in and regatta T shirt distribution. First come, first served on sizes.
0900 Racing all day long
1830 Catered Redbones dinner on the dock.
2100- 2330 Band and dancing at the pavilion by Ryan Costello and the Broken Tiles.
Sunday, June 25, 2006
0900-1700 Racing, Awards ASAP after sailing.
5 MINIMUM CREW WEIGHT
6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available at registration
7 VENUE
Racing will be conducted from the MIT sailing pavilion
on the Charles River lower basin.
8 SCORING and FORMAT
8.1 The format will be a Modified Swiss League. The goal for this event is to provide as many quality races as possible between evenly matched teams, and to end with a Match Bracket Sunday afternoon, consisting of at least a Semi-final and Finals.
8.2 Scoring will be in accordance with Appendix D, except as modified by the Sailing Instructions.
9 SAFETY
All competitors shall wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved PFD at all times while on the water.
